Its 59 year history is master fully told through all of its goods which express the language and atmosphere of the period Kartell was created back in 1949 by Giulio Castelli a young chemical engineer. The business began with production of car accessories, house wares, lighting appliances and laboratory articles, then took on “the design of plastic materials”. In 1988 Giulio Castelli passed the helm to Claudio Luti, and in 1999 Kartell became the first company in the world to use polycarbonate to manufacture furnishing objects and the result was named La Marie a completely see-through chair with a minimalistic modern design. Then Kartell developed the theme of transparency making the range both unique and original. Kartell has joined forces with many famous designers, among them Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wonders and Ferruccio Laviani.
